Wintry wind
Keeps summer guessing
As storm soaks;
Life-blood of earth.
Shivery
Makes me snuggle into you
And purr.

The beauty of creation surrounds me,
Sights and sounds fill my head.
Solid earth.
Still, smooth water.
Limitless skies.
Birds and insects waking up
Salute the day.

I’m lost and yet I’m found
Complete: curled up within you,
Covered by your love
My inadequacies,
My naked, raw soul covered.

Drawn by love
Yet wanting to run away
So attractive
And yet so painful.
I want to skip preliminaries
To wear my heart on my sleeve
But that scares me so.
Will I be burnt or simply warmed
If I stand close to the fire?

Lord, I come to you for comfort and support
Yet struggle to believe
I deserve you attention.
Lord, I bring my sins before you for forgiveness
Still holding some back
Not believing you forgive all.
I carry my own burdens
And pride myself on my independence
Breaking my back in the process.
Lord, forgive my willfulness
And my stubborn nature.

To be wholly satisfied
In just one person,
To be wholly contained…
What an amazing thing.

I build up castles in the air
And when they’ve fallen down
I feel my world has tumbled in
Not just my imagined crown.
